Hi Collective!
It's a new week, which means it's time to make new opportunities.
This past week, I've been really thinking about what community means, especially with the launch of The Collective Connected. When trying to build a network, its only natural to wonder what other's think about what it means as well.
So, what does having a creative community really mean?
When you search for tips on networking for creatives online, a lot of it comes off as, well, a bit forced.
Sure, when a duo or group of creatives team up, there’s a shared goal of success—whatever that looks like to you all. But it makes me wonder how others view these connections under the surface.
Is it about having a big network to tap into when you need something?
What can each person bring to the table for a win-win situation?
How many of their fans will also cheer for you?
Who can you connect with through them?
These are the kinds of questions I find myself running over a lot, especially in business settings. But I want to expand more on that.
Relationships that are all about results just don’t feel real and often die out quickly.
What really lasts are the connections built on shared visions and fueled by passion. At least, that’s how I see it.
Beyond just creative and professional ties, most of our connections are formed because we genuinely enjoy being around each other and sharing ideas. Thats what I want when you forms bond here on The Collective Connected.
Some of the most amazing creative work we've seen over the years has come from those natural vibes that foster real partnerships. Just think about:
Teena Marie and Rick James
Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol
Ariana Grande and Victoria Monét
Virgil Abloh and Takashi Murakami
Odd Future
Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo
Future and DJ Esco
Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones
The Migos
The Beatles
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak
Pharrell and Nigo
Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro
Denzel Washington and Spike Lee
Babyface Ray and Veeze
Lee Daniels and Taraji P. Henson
These creatives have built real friendships that shine through in their work together. Growing in your creative career and building a network shouldn’t feel forced. So this week, let’s take a moment to think about:
What does a creative bond mean to me?
Who are some great examples of successful and healthy creative partnerships?
Share your thoughts with the community!
